Reveal the answer and explanation

Correct answer: E2 g

The standard adult dose for IE prophylaxis is amoxicillin 2 g PO, administered 30-60 minutes before the dental procedure. For children, the dose is 50 mg/kg PO (maximum 2 g). This single pre-procedural dose provides adequate blood levels to cover the period of transient bacteraemia induced by the dental procedure. No post-procedural dose is required. For patients unable to take oral medication, ampicillin 2 g IM or IV is the alternative.
