Correct answer: E1 mm

While the minimum width of attached gingiva required for periodontal health is debated, most evidence suggests that as little as 1 mm of attached (keratinised) gingiva is adequate for maintaining periodontal health IF oral hygiene is excellent. However, 2 mm of keratinised gingiva (including approximately 1 mm of attached gingiva) is generally considered desirable. Mucogingival surgery (free gingival graft) is indicated when inadequate attached gingiva is associated with progressive recession or inflammation not responsive to plaque control.
