Reveal the answer and explanation

Correct answer: CThe anteroposterior relationship between the maxilla and mandible using the occlusal plane as a reference

The Wits appraisal (Jacobson, 1975) assesses the anteroposterior jaw relationship by dropping perpendiculars from Point A and Point B onto the occlusal plane (or bisecting occlusal plane). The distance between these perpendiculars (AO-BO) indicates the AP skeletal relationship. Normal values: -1 mm for females, 0 mm for males. It was developed to overcome the limitations of the ANB angle, which can be affected by the vertical position of Nasion.
