The nasopalatine duct cyst (incisive canal cyst) is the most common non-odontogenic cyst of the jaws. It arises from epithelial remnants of the nasopalatine duct within the incisive canal. It presents as a well-defined, round or heart-shaped (due to superimposition of the nasal septum) radiolucency in the anterior maxillary midline. The adjacent teeth are vital. Treatment is surgical enucleation with low recurrence rate.
