Calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)₂] is the most widely used intracanal medicament. It has antimicrobial properties, induces hard tissue barrier formation (apexification), and controls inflammatory root resorption. It requires at least 7 days to achieve effective antimicrobial activity throughout the canal system.
