Oral hairy leukoplakia is caused by EBV replication in the superficial epithelium of the lateral tongue. It presents as white, corrugated, non-removable plaques that cannot be scraped off. It is strongly associated with immunosuppression (HIV/AIDS). Heck disease is caused by HPV-13/32. Verruca vulgaris and squamous papilloma are associated with HPV types 6, 11, or 2.
