The femoral nerve lies in the groove between iliacus and psoas major deep to the fascia iliaca and lateral to the femoral artery. It is outside the femoral sheath. Fascia iliaca compartment block aims to deposit LA deep to the fascia iliaca to block the femoral / lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh / and (partially) obturator nerve.
