Correct answer: EPartner notification — sexual contacts within the last 4 weeks (or last partner if longer) must be traced, tested, and treated

Partner notification (PN) is mandatory for all STI diagnoses including Chlamydia. For Chlamydia, BASHH recommends notifying: all sexual contacts in the 4 weeks before symptom onset (or 6 months if asymptomatic) or the last sexual partner if longer. PN aims to break the chain of transmission, detect asymptomatic infection in contacts, and prevent re-infection of the index patient. Accelerated partner therapy (providing treatment for the partner without requiring them to attend clinic first) is used in some settings.
