BASHH 2019 (updated 2024) guidelines for uncomplicated gonorrhoea recommend Ceftriaxone 1 g IM as a single dose. Dual therapy with Azithromycin is no longer routinely recommended since the updated guidelines, as Azithromycin resistance in N. gonorrhoeae has increased significantly. Ciprofloxacin should only be used if sensitivity testing confirms fluoroquinolone susceptibility. A test of cure should be performed at 2 weeks.
