Correct answer: BSCORE2 estimates the 10-year risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, whereas SCORE estimated fatal CVD events only

The key innovation of SCORE2 (Systematic COronary Risk Evaluation 2) compared to the original SCORE model is that it estimates the 10-year risk of both fatal AND non-fatal atherosclerotic CVD events (MI, stroke), whereas the original SCORE only estimated fatal CVD risk. This gives a more complete picture of cardiovascular risk and results in higher absolute risk estimates. SCORE2 uses total cholesterol (not LDL-C), does not include diabetes (diabetic patients are assessed separately with SCORE2-Diabetes), and is calibrated for four European risk regions. For patients ≥70 years, SCORE2-OP is used instead.
