How should a wound be prepared and covered when applying Metrogel (metronidazole) to a malodorous fungating tumour?

For adults and elderly patients, clean the wound thoroughly, apply Metrogel (metronidazole) over the complete area and cover with a non-adherent dressing, once or twice daily as necessary; use in children is not recommended.
