How does isoflurane affect the action of muscle relaxants?

Isoflurane markedly potentiates all commonly used muscle relaxants, especially non-depolarising agents, and prolongs their neuromuscular effect compared with other conventional anaesthetics, so approximately one third to one half of the usual dose is recommended.
