How does carbidopa increase the amount of levodopa available to the brain during Duodopa treatment?

During Duodopa treatment, carbidopa does not cross the blood-brain barrier but inhibits levodopa decarboxylation outside the brain, leaving more levodopa available for transport into the brain and conversion to dopamine.
