In Xultophy, insulin degludec activates insulin receptors, increasing muscle/fat glucose uptake and suppressing liver glucose output; liraglutide activates GLP-1 receptors, glucose-dependently increasing insulin and reducing excess glucagon, with a minor gastric-emptying delay, while during hypoglycaemia reducing insulin secretion without impairing glucagon secretion.
