Concorso SSM is the national specialty-entrance competition (concorso nazionale per le Scuole di Specializzazione in Medicina), set annually by ministerial decree — for 2025/26, Decreto Direttoriale MUR n. 77 del 21 maggio 2026. Its fixed shape drives every resource decision:

Define the minimum stack
Almost every candidate needs exactly four things, and no more:

Time bands — and what to omit
The honest skill is subtraction: each plan states what you must not do.
- Under 4 weeks: one course's high-yield material only, plus daily full or half-length mocks and relentless review of misses. Omit new deep-dive lectures and any second bank. Prioritise pacing and the blank/guess decision.
- 4–12 weeks: systematic pass through the blueprint on one primary resource, with retrieval overtaking passive study from week two, and weekly full mocks in the back half. Omit low-yield topics until your matrix shows them as weak and high-frequency.
- More than 12 weeks: build foundations with teaching, but start unseen testing early so you are measuring from the outset. Omit the temptation to "watch everything"; hours watched is not a readiness metric.

Read across, not down: no single row does every job, which is why the minimum stack combines a few, each for one purpose.

When sources disagree, rank them: official material first (the decree and released quesiti ufficiali) for format and difficulty; primary guidance for clinical content; vendor pages for product facts (labelled vendor-reported and dated); and independent testing — your own unseen scores — for what actually works for you. How do I know whether I have covered the full Concorso SSM blueprint? Not by finishing a course or a bank — completion counts items done, not competence proven. Build a blueprint-coverage matrix: list every official domain, log your unseen, timed accuracy in each, and mark a domain "covered" only when you score consistently on questions you have never seen. Coverage is a measured state per domain, not a total. The domains candidates think are covered but are not are usually hygiene and preventive medicine, statistics, and fine pharmacology.
