A distinct competitive category has emerged around AI-assisted preventive health assessment, and its major participants are pursuing genuinely different technological strategies rather than competing versions of the same product. Consumers now have access to broad health assessments outside conventional symptomatic care, combining different proportions of imaging, laboratory testing, proprietary sensors, algorithmic interpretation and clinician review. The market is shifting from a single annual physical towards something closer to longitudinal, data-rich health monitoring, and Neko Health's $700 million Series C is the clearest signal yet of how much capital is now chasing that shift.

Neko Health

Neko's model centres on proprietary optical, cardiovascular and dermatological sensing technology built entirely in-house, combined with blood analysis, across a 60-minute assessment. It checks skin health including moles and marks, cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors, and blood abnormalities, with same-day clinician explanation of the results. Priced at £299 in the UK and 2,750 SEK in Sweden, it sits at a notably more accessible price point than several MRI-led competitors, and is structured as an integrated clinic visit rather than simply a scan appointment. The company reports a 75 percent rebooking rate among members, which, if representative, suggests the annual-revisit model central to its economics is finding real traction rather than only attracting one-off curiosity.

Prenuvo

Prenuvo's offering centres on radiation-free whole-body MRI, screening multiple organs and systems in a single session, with biomarkers and AI-assisted imaging interpretation layered on top. Its current US pricing starts at around $1,199, though packages and regional pricing vary, and the company has expanded across North America, the UK and Australia. Prenuvo has raised $192 million to date and reports annual revenue in the region of $250 million, a meaningfully different scale and cost structure to Neko's higher-volume, lower-unit-price clinic model.

Function Health and Ezra

Function Health's core model is built on repeated laboratory testing: members pay an annual membership, now $365 after an earlier price reduction, for more than 160 blood tests spanning cardiovascular, hormonal, metabolic and inflammatory markers, tracked over time. Its acquisition of imaging company Ezra in May 2025 added AI-enhanced MRI and CT to that base, using FDA-cleared AI to shorten scan times to roughly 22 minutes and reduce cost to $499 per scan. Function reached a $2.5 billion valuation in November 2025 after raising $298 million, and has since branded its data platform as a "Medical Intelligence Lab" unifying lab results, imaging, wearables and clinical records into a single interface. Unlike Neko, Function does not manufacture its own imaging hardware; it works through partner MRI providers, which trades some of Neko's vertical control for faster geographic scaling.

Q Bio

Q Bio combines whole-body MRI, blood biomarkers, genetic testing and wearable data integration with physician review, delivered through a longitudinal dashboard intended to be shared between patient and care team over time. Positioned explicitly as a rebuilt physical exam rather than a single test, it is arguably the closest conceptual comparison to Neko's ambition of an AI-native, comprehensive assessment platform, though its go-to-market and scale to date have been smaller and less publicly documented than its three larger competitors.

The critical comparison

The genuinely useful way to compare these companies is not "which offers the most comprehensive scan" but a small set of structural questions: what data does each company actually capture, and how much of it is proprietary rather than sourced from third-party partners; does the company own its own hardware or license someone else's; what role does AI actually play, interpretation, triage, or simple report generation; how much clinician involvement sits around the technology; does the model create a genuinely longitudinal record that improves with repeat visits, or is each assessment closer to a one-off snapshot; what does it cost, and how accessible is that price to a broad population rather than only the affluent and already health-engaged; what is the company's regulatory position for the specific claims it makes; and, critically, what evidence exists that the assessment changes downstream health outcomes rather than simply generating more information and more follow-up appointments.

Reading the comparison honestly

None of these four companies has yet published the kind of long-term, controlled outcome evidence that would settle which approach is clinically superior, and it would be premature, and somewhat dishonest to the reader, to declare a winner on that basis today. What can be said with more confidence is that they are optimising for different things: Neko for accessible price and vertically integrated speed, Prenuvo for imaging depth, Function for repeat testing frequency and lab-based tracking, and Q Bio for breadth of data type within a single longitudinal interface. Each of those is a coherent bet. They are unlikely all to be equally right.

Conclusion

The race between these companies is not, in the end, only about who can offer the most comprehensive scan in a single sitting. It is about which of them becomes the organisation that owns a person's ongoing, longitudinal preventive health relationship, repeat visit after repeat visit, in a way that keeps them subscribed and keeps the underlying dataset growing. That is a harder and slower thing to win than a single good product review, which is precisely why the capital chasing it has become so large.
