April 2026: Booking 11-13 March. Exam 27 April. Results 28 May.

AKT 2027

SCA 2026-2027
Nine diets per year. Dates published on the RCGP website. Booking windows vary. From April 2026, staged payments are compulsory — 25% at reservation, remainder closer to the exam date.
Booking Windows
AKT booking windows are typically 2-3 days. Set a calendar reminder 1 week before the window opens. Missing the window means waiting 3+ months for the next sitting.
SCA booking is now via MyRCGP (membership portal) — the FourteenFish booking platform is no longer used for exam reservations.
Exam Fees
AKT: £470. SCA: £1,207. Not claimable on study budget. Tax relief available via HMRC self-assessment (20% or 40% depending on your tax rate).
Results Timeline
AKT results approximately 4 weeks after the exam. SCA results vary by diet — typically 4-6 weeks.
Attempt Limits
Maximum 4 attempts (if entered training before August 2023) or 6 attempts (if entered on or after 2 August 2023) for each exam.
Planning Advice
Work backward from your target sitting date. 12 weeks for AKT preparation. 3-6 months for SCA preparation. Sit at the earliest date you are genuinely ready — not the earliest available. An unnecessary fail wastes an attempt and costs £470-1,207.
