GPEx offers separate Dr AKT/MCQ and Dr KFP question banks as well as a combined AKT + KFP Ultimate Bundle. The practical buying question is whether you need one assessment's questions, both written formats, or a different kind of support for the mistakes you keep making.
This guide is published by iatroX. We include our own RACGP question practice first among the alternatives, while distinguishing it from GPEx's advertised KFP format and educator-led clinical programmes. Product information was checked on 1 November 2026; this is a current buying guide, not a report of a new launch.
The short comparison
| Resource | Useful job | What to establish before paying |
|---|---|---|
| iatroX RACGP practice | Answer questions, review explanations and open Tutor beside an attempted iatroX question | Whether the questions and reasoning support address your gap; the timed set is not an official KFP marking replica |
| GPEx Dr AKT/MCQ | Focused AKT/MCQ question-bank preparation | Included access period and whether you need the KFP product as well |
| GPEx Dr KFP | KFP questions advertised in the RACGP multiple-selection format | How explanations handle necessary selections, distractors and the required number of answers |
| GPEx Ultimate Bundle | Combined written-examination preparation | Which components you will actually use rather than treating the bundle as an automatic saving |
The current GPEx catalogue lists the two standalone banks at A$490 each and the bundle at A$881, with subscription access to 28 February 2027. Its newer onesite catalogue also identifies those products and that expiry date. Check the final checkout terms, particularly if your intended sitting is later than this access window. A subscription end date is not an examination date.
Start with the assessment you are taking
The RACGP Fellowship examinations handbook separates the AKT, KFP and CCE. The AKT contains 150 questions. The current KFP contains 70 independent multiple-selection questions; it is not the older handwritten short-answer paper. The CCE is a separate clinical assessment.
These distinctions change the purchase. If the AKT is your remaining written examination, paying for KFP access needs a specific reason. If you are preparing for both, count protected sessions for each format before choosing a bundle. A shared clinical syllabus does not mean that selecting one best answer trains every decision involved in selecting several appropriate actions.
The official dates page lists the next AKT on 15 January and KFP on 16 January 2027. The ordinary enrolment window closed on 1 October 2026. Buying preparation does not enrol you in an examination.
A worked exercise: one topic, two different decisions
Use an original practice outline rather than copying a provider's stem. Imagine a routine GP review in which a patient's symptoms have changed since the previous appointment and the question supplies both reassuring findings and one important warning feature.
For an AKT-style task, write: “Which single next step best responds to the warning feature?” Commit to one answer, then explain why a reasonable routine follow-up would be insufficient in this particular scenario. The useful output is a discriminator: the detail that changes the priority.
For a KFP-style learning exercise, write a separate task asking which stated number of actions are appropriate now. Sort your candidate actions into three columns: necessary now, potentially useful later, and unsupported by the information given. Then justify each selection and each tempting exclusion. This is a reasoning exercise, not an invented official item or scoring key.
The debrief should reveal whether you missed the warning feature, knew it but failed to prioritise it, or added too many reasonable-sounding actions. Those are different gaps. More factual reading may help the first; selection practice and feedback may be more useful for the last.
Use the free pack to answer a buying question
GPEx's free preparation pack advertises a timed 20-question AKT/MCQ mini examination, a mini KFP examination using the format introduced from 2025.2, and a CCE tips eBook. That is GPEx's offer, separate from iatroX's daily sample allowance.
Before opening it, decide what would make the paid product useful. For example: “Can I explain why I selected an unnecessary action after reviewing the KFP explanation?” Record the answer after the sample. A mini-exam percentage from a small set should not become your predicted official result.
Use this brief evaluation sheet:
| What happened? | What to record | Purchase implication |
|---|---|---|
| Correct answer, uncertain reason | The competing option and missing discriminator | Inspect explanation depth |
| Wrong because of local guidance | The recommendation and source/date to check | Prioritise Australian context |
| Too many KFP selections | Which action belonged later rather than now | Seek format-specific feedback |
| Repeated reading without another attempt | Time spent versus decisions practised | A larger bundle may add workload rather than solve the problem |
Where Tutor adds a different activity
On iatroX, begin with an attempted RACGP question and open Tutor beside its explanation. Ask it to help you distinguish the answer you chose from the best alternative, or to identify which finding changed the priority. Keep the clinical concept from other teaching; use an iatroX question for the question-linked Tutor session rather than assuming another provider's question can be imported.
A useful debrief has three lines: “I chose… because…”, “The deciding feature was…”, and “Next time I will check… before choosing.” Retest the distinction on a different question after an interval. The purpose is to produce a clearer decision rule, not a longer transcript.
Up to 10 new sample questions per day, shared across exams and subject to availability, with explanations and no account required. Full RACGP bank access is included in all-access. One complete guided Tutor session is included with a verified free account; continued Tutor use is included in all-access. Current all-access pricing is £29/month or £99/year in the UK; US$29/month or US$99/year elsewhere.
Keep the clinical programme separate
GPEx also offers clinical preparation. Its current Dr CCE Performance page describes educator-led case work and a small-group mock; the page says enrolments for 2027.1 commence on 1 December 2026 and currently shows the programme as closed. It also contains older session dates, so confirm the actual programme schedule with GPEx rather than carrying those dates into a new study plan.
That is a different purchase from an AKT or KFP bank. For your own CCE practice, identify whether the next task is a clinical encounter or a case discussion, and choose feedback that observes that task. iatroX CCE practice provides a separate route for clinical rehearsal; a written-question score does not stand in for an observed consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Should I buy a GPEx standalone bank or the bundle?
Choose against your actual examinations and usable study time. A standalone bank makes sense when only one written format needs work. Compare the bundle when both formats are required and you have scheduled time for each; check the access end date before deciding.
Is Dr KFP the old short-answer format?
GPEx currently describes Dr KFP as using the RACGP MSQ format. The official KFP now uses independent multiple-selection questions. Check current sample items and explanations rather than relying on an older description of the examination.
Can iatroX replace every part of GPEx?
Compare the activity you need. iatroX offers question practice and question-linked Tutor reasoning; GPEx advertises separate written-format products and educator-led clinical programmes. Select for the unresolved task rather than assuming the same feature names mean identical teaching or assessment.
