The FourteenFish portfolio determines your ARCP outcome — which determines whether you progress through training. Every piece of evidence the panel reviews lives in FourteenFish. Getting it right from ST1 saves enormous stress in ST3.

Portfolio Structure

Learning log: Your main evidence repository. Clinical case reviews (minimum 36/year), CPD entries, SEAs, OOH session reflections, teaching reflections, audit/QIP documentation.

PDP (Personal Development Plan): SMART objectives linked to identified learning needs. Updated at least every 6 months. Each PDP entry should close with a documented outcome and generate the next learning need.

WPBA: COTs, CBDs, miniCEX, MSF, PSQ. Schedule these proactively — do not wait for your supervisor to remind you.

Training map: Visual overview of capability coverage. Check this monthly to identify gaps before they become ARCP problems.

Learning Log Types

Clinical case reviews (36+ per year). Brief description, substantive reflection, 2-3 capability links with descriptor-based justification. Quality over length.

CPD entries. Document courses, iatroX quiz sessions, BMJ Learning modules, e-GP completions. Link to PDP entries to close the learning loop.

SEAs. Significant events with root cause analysis, group discussion documentation, personal and organisational change.

OOH sessions. Signed form attached, reflection on unscheduled care learning.

Capability Linking

The 13 RCGP capabilities must all have evidence across the training year. Use the training map to track coverage. Link entries to 2-3 capabilities maximum. Use descriptor language from the RCGP curriculum in your justification — not generic statements.

The Golden Rule

Update contemporaneously — weekly, not in a batch before ARCP. Panels notice batch uploads. Contemporaneous entries demonstrate ongoing engagement. Backdating entries is transparent and undermines credibility.

Features Most Trainees Miss

Training map visualisation. Progress graphs. Assessment invite tracking. "Send to PDP" button. AI sensitive data scanner. Mobile app for quick entries between patients.

Where iatroX Fits

iatroX generates learning that feeds your portfolio naturally — every clinical Q&A query, quiz session, and CPD completion creates material worth reflecting on.
