Visa costs, relocation, lower starting salaries — IMGs often have less disposable income for exam preparation than UK graduates. The free stack is your foundation.

Free AKT

iatroX adaptive quiz (free). UK-centric, curriculum-mapped, adaptive targeting. The most important free tool for IMGs because it is specifically grounded in NICE/CKS/BNF — bridging the guideline gap. i-Medics (3,000+ free MCQs). Volume exposure. BMJ OnExamination (free for BMA members). BMA membership is free in your first UK year — claim it immediately. RCGP official example questions (free). Format familiarisation.

Free SCA

RCGP Consultation Toolkit (free). Essential — read before spending anything. Peer practice (free). Practise with UK-trained peers who can give cultural context feedback. Deanery mock SCA days (free). Check with your TPD for dates.

Free Clinical Reference

NICE CKS (free). Your management reference — learn UK pathways from here. BNF app (free). Prescribing reference. Ask iatroX (free). Guideline-grounded Q&A with citations.

Free Learning

e-GP (free). RCGP-supported modules linked to FourteenFish. BMJ Learning (free for BMA). CPD modules. iatroX UKMLA Academy. 402 conditions mapped to GMC content map.

Study Budget Reminder

You are entitled to £600 for SCA prep and £600 for AKT prep — the same as UK graduates. Many IMGs do not realise this early enough. Discuss with your ES in the first month of training.

When to Invest

SCA simulation is the one area where paid tools add significant value: MedTutor AI (~£10/3 cases) or SCA Revision (£11.99/month). Both are claimable on study budget.

Where iatroX Fits

iatroX is the centrepiece of the free IMG stack — adaptive quiz, guideline Q&A, calculators, and CPD tools. Zero cost, designed for UK clinical practice.
