The finish line is visible. Do not trip over administrative hurdles.

6 Months Out

Confirm SCA sitting date. Begin performers list research (PCSE process — understand timelines). Ensure AKT is passed. Portfolio gap analysis with ES — identify capability gaps that need ST3-year evidence.

4 Months Out

Intensify SCA preparation (simulation practice ramp-up). Begin PCSE performers list application. Complete any outstanding mandatory training (safeguarding, BLS).

3 Months Out

Submit performers list application to PCSE. Confirm all OOH sessions complete or booked. Update PDP with final training-year objectives.

2 Months Out

SCA examination. Ensure all WPBA evidence complete. Draft Form R. Final clinical case reviews to fill any remaining capability gaps.

1 Month Out

Final ESR submission by deanery deadline — chase your supervisor if needed. Form R submitted. Portfolio locked for ARCP panel review. All evidence from the current training year, not carried from previous years.

Post-ARCP

CCT application submitted via FourteenFish (button appears after satisfactory ARCP outcome). Join NHS Performers List. Arrange medical indemnity for independent practice. Decide career path — partnership, salaried, locum, portfolio.

Often Overlooked

DBS renewal (may be required depending on timing). Hepatitis B immunity evidence. GMC licence to practise confirmation. Pension considerations (especially if planning locum work). Indemnity provider comparison (MDU, MPS, MDDUS).
