The most useful RACGP CCE resources help you practise two different tasks: explaining your decisions in a case discussion and responding to a person in a clinical encounter. Begin with official preparation material, then add observation, reference learning or repeatable simulation according to the weakness you have actually identified. More cases are not automatically better preparation.
The RACGP timetable, checked on 3 October 2026, places the 2026.2 CCE across 7-8 and 14-15 November. These are successive examination weekends, not interchangeable dates for completing the whole assessment. This comparison is published by iatroX and includes its simulation offering alongside official resources and human practice.
Match resources to the current CCE
The official CCE page, checked on 3 October 2026, describes online delivery through Zoom and nine cases: four case discussions and five clinical encounters. Each case lasts 15 minutes with five minutes of reading time. Your allocated sessions and current candidate instructions take precedence over an unofficial timetable.
A case discussion asks you to make the reasoning understandable to an examiner. A clinical encounter asks you to interact with a role-player while an examiner observes. Similar knowledge can sit beneath both tasks, but preparing one does not automatically prepare the other.
When reviewing a resource, ask which task it actually supports. Written explanations can clarify medicine; observing an example can illustrate a response; independent rehearsal reveals whether you can produce one. Those activities should complement rather than masquerade as each other.
Official preparation should establish the standard
The RACGP's October 2026 public description directs candidates to CCE support material and the Exam Preparation Toolkit in gplearning. It describes candidate guidance, technical information and preparation modules with cases and video examples. The support is described as free for the relevant candidates, with login required; it is not an unrestricted public library with no account conditions.
Use this material before adopting a commercial framework. Identify the task, the expected level and the limits of any example. A model performance is not an instruction to repeat identical wording in every consultation.
The RACGP results and public reports page, checked on 3 October 2026, provides official cohort reports and an archive. Read the relevant report in its original context rather than treating an old cohort's result as your probability of passing. Reports should guide questions about preparation, not become a prediction list for the next sitting.
Peer practice: useful when the observation is specific
A study partner gives you someone to respond to, challenge your explanation and notice when your communication does not address the actual task. That value depends on the session design, not simply on both participants being examination candidates.
Agree who is the candidate, who presents the case and who observes. Where only two people are available, make the limitations of simultaneous role-playing and observation explicit. Record specific moments that need attention instead of giving a single impression of confidence.
A fictional candidate, Amira, gives detailed explanations but does not respond when the role-player describes a practical obstacle. Her partner's useful feedback is not to be more empathetic. It is to identify the point at which Amira returned to her plan without checking the obstacle. The next case tests that behaviour in a different situation.
A course or coaching session should solve a defined problem
Before paying for a course, establish the amount of direct practice, the qualifications and role of the feedback provider, and whether the format matches the current CCE. Ask whether you will receive individual observation or primarily watch others. Neither format is inherently wrong, but they serve different needs.
Check the current fee, currency, access period, cancellation terms and what happens if your examination allocation conflicts with the session. No universal course price is assumed here. A large advertised case collection does not show how much useful feedback an individual candidate will receive.
Coaching may be particularly relevant when several rehearsals expose a persistent problem that peers cannot explain. Conversely, a candidate receiving good supervisor feedback may gain little from another broad programme. The question is what the purchase adds to the current preparation, not how anxious you feel when reading its marketing.
iatroX: repeated conversational practice between observed sessions
As described in iatroX's September 2026 simulation launch, the platform includes a RACGP CCE track, voice and text interaction, coached practice and uninterrupted exam modes, transcript-linked feedback and Tutor-led remediation. The published design also includes a prescribed next case and shared progress across web and native apps.
Amira could use a solo session to practise pausing when new information changes the conversation. She would review the relevant exchange and ask whether her response addressed the person's concern. If automated feedback overlooks a defensible approach or misreads the exchange, she should challenge it through appropriate source checking or an experienced observer.
These are formative features, not RACGP endorsement, clinical validation or a pass prediction. A conversational system cannot establish every practical or interpersonal competency. Do not use its availability as a reason to remove appropriate human observation from the plan.
Assess usability in the conditions you will study
Try a resource on the device and connection you actually use. Can you reach the next relevant activity without spending most of the session configuring it? Can you find the feedback that matters and understand why it was given? Does the format support a short focused rehearsal as well as a longer practice session?
For online examination preparation, rehearse the current technical arrangements separately through official guidance. Using a web-based learning product is not the same as demonstrating that your examination setup meets the College's requirements. Avoid experimenting with an unfamiliar technical arrangement immediately before the assessment.
Consider accessibility and control over pacing. A feature that helps one candidate may distract another. Evaluate the actual task rather than assuming that a product described as simple will suit every learner equally.
Keep the cost comparison relevant
Under iatroX's product information published on 3 October 2026, one complete simulation is free. Ongoing simulations are included with question banks, Socratic Tutor, study planner and CPD tools at £99 paid upfront annually or £29 monthly. The annual equivalent of £8.25 per month is billed as an annual payment, not monthly instalments.
The official candidate support described above may therefore be the appropriate first resource without an additional commercial subscription. For paid options, compare what you need for this examination: relevant practice, useful feedback and help addressing the next learning gap. Access to unrelated examinations is not the core value argument.
Keep currencies as advertised and compare access conditions before making a purchase. A lower subscription fee does not automatically replace an observed coaching session, while a higher course fee does not establish better individual learning.
Choose by the problem that remains
Use official resources when the examination expectations or online arrangements are unclear. Prioritise a supervisor or experienced observer when you need calibration of your performance. Use peers for responsive practice and a course when its specific teaching or feedback addresses a demonstrated gap.
Consider iatroX for repeatable conversational rehearsal and structured review between those activities. Keep a smaller combination when it is already working. Your final preparation should produce clearer explanations and more responsive encounters, not a longer list of subscriptions.
Frequently asked questions
Is the November 2026 CCE face to face?
The RACGP page checked on 3 October 2026 describes online delivery through Zoom. Follow the current candidate technical guidance and your own allocation.
Are the two November weekends alternative complete sittings?
No: the published CCE schedule spans consecutive weekends, with individual examination sessions allocated to candidates. Keep the relevant dates available until your arrangements are confirmed.
Can iatroX replace a supervisor or CCE examiner?
No such replacement or endorsement is claimed. Use formative simulation alongside appropriate human observation and the official preparation resources.
