The 2026 CRA framework explicitly tests person-centred care — and this runs across all content areas, not as a separate section.
How it appears in the CRA: Clinical scenarios framed as patient interactions. "A patient asks you about the side effects of their new medication." "A patient presents with a prescription that has a potential interaction with their existing medicines." "A mother asks whether an OTC product is safe for her child." These are not pure clinical questions — they test your ability to make clinical decisions within a communication context.
Skills tested: Shared decision-making. Managing patient expectations. Explaining risks and benefits in accessible language. Handling drug interactions in conversation (not just identifying them). Safeguarding awareness. Confidentiality judgment. Mental capacity assessment.
Resources: CPPE consultation skills modules. University programme consultation teaching. Practice experience during FTY. iatroX's SBA questions include scenario-based formats matching the CRA's person-centred care domain.
Not a separate exam component: These skills are embedded in clinical questions. You do not get a "communication" paper. You get clinical questions where the correct answer requires interpersonal judgment.
