PANE (Physician Associate National Examination) comprises two components: a Knowledge Based Assessment (KBA) and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

KBA: Online, 4 hours total across two 2-hour papers. Tests four skill areas: diagnosis, investigation, management, and clinical context. Questions cover the full PA matrix of conditions.

OSCE: Practical clinical examination stations testing clinical skills, communication, and professional practice — including PA-specific scenarios (escalation, scope boundaries).

GMC regulation: GMC took over PA regulation from December 2024, with mandatory registration by December 2026. The exam framework is evolving within this transition.

Registration requirements: Pass both KBA and OSCE, meet GMC requirements, apply within specified timeframe.

iatroX covers clinical knowledge tested across all four KBA skill areas — adaptive, NICE/CKS-grounded, free.
