Pelvic floor exercises are recommended as part of conservative management for faecal incontinence, particularly when tailored to the individual’s findings and needs .

They should be supervised and typically performed for at least 4 months for women with faecal incontinence, with progress monitored through digital reassessment by trained professionals .

If pelvic floor muscle training is effective, women are advised to continue it after the supervised programme ends .
